If you are preparing to do some research, we need to be SAFE and SMART about our searching.  Here a few seach engines that I use at home with my children and suggest you try, as well.

Welcome to the internet home of Mrs. Mulry's AIM and ACE classes.  AIM students meet with Mrs. Mulry for one hour daily during the regular math period as a pull out replacement.  ACE classes generally meet with Mrs. Mulry for two hours per week and are responsible for their regular classwork and ACE work.

I sign the agenda in AIM class on a daily basis and after each ACE class.  The agenda is an important communication tool between home and school and I use it on a daily basis.  Feel free to write me a note or to e-mail me at nmulry@ewingboe.org if you have any questions.

The AIM students are working on studying math facts and I feel that this is an essential part of our regular curriculum.  Feel free to use the links here to help your child review math facts to prepare for our regular math timed tests.  I have included some other fun math sites, as well!

After our class discussion about words having POWER and the week of RESPECT, we are now thinking about a word that we wish to remove from our daily use.  We are calling it "Banish a Word."  We went over an example in class and worked on some ideas...

This is the paragraph we wrote together in class...

If I could banish a word it would be evil.   Evil has the power to change how you feel about yourself in a negative way.  Evil can cause you to harm yourself or others.  Evil makes the world a terrible, unsafe place.  If I could get rid of evil, I would crush it under my shoe like a tiny, squirming insect.  I would watch it die and be replaced with love.  Love has the power to change the world into a better place.  It can make you feel good inside like a harm hug you carry with you all day long.  Love makes you feel better by helping you to see the beauty in all of the people around you.  If evil was replaced with love, the world would be a safer, happier place.

You can type up your paragraphy and email it to me or share it with me via Google Docs.  My email is nmulry@ewingboe.org.

We also talked about adding a Wordle.  If you would like to do that, go here.

http://www.wordle.net/

The final paragraph with a graphic is due on Thursday, October 13th.

Welcome to ACE at Parkway Elementary School.

We are going to have an exciting 2016-2017 school year.  We are piloting new units in ACE this year so there have been a few changes.
Third grade will study drama and oceanography.  Fourth Grade will study Inventors and Inventions, create a Shark Tank proposal and work with Legos Mindstorms Robotics.  Fifth Grade will study Crime Scene Investigation and Mock Trials and end with a dash of Archaeology.  The We are encouraging students to do writing and research on a regular basis in order to help them improve their writing and technology skills as we move forward into the next century.

The schedule for ACE is as follows:

3rd Grade ACE

Tuesday 11:30-12:30
Wednesday 2:45-3:35

4th Grade ACE

Monday  2:45-3:35
Friday 11:30-12:30

5th Grade ACE

Tuesday and Thursday 2:45-3:35

Please encourage your child to use his or her agenda since ACE is not a daily class.  For example, the students may have homework on Tuesday that is due on Thursday or on Thursday that is due on Monday in third grade.  Larger assignments will have 1-2 weeks to be completed.

As always, feel free to email me at Mrs. Mulry

There are so many great inventions out there...But which is the GREATEST invention of all time?

You need to decide...Pick an invention and prove in 10 or more sentences that it is the greatest

invention ever.  I have posted some links below.  I also reattached your homework to this posting,

but it should be stapled into your ACE Journal.   Take your time, use correct grammar, punctuation

and spelling.  It should be neatly handwritten or typed.  Don't forget your name and the date.
